N.Z’s best Rugby Ref Shitted On by NZRFU

The Super 15 began last night with an entertaining game between the Highlanders and Chiefs.

Oh what a difference a good referee makes in a modern-day game of rugby.

Make no bones about it Stephen Walsh is the best referee from New Zealand.

Only Steve Walsh is now an Australian after being shitted on from up-high by the NZFU.

So what were Walsh’s crimes that saw the NZRFU cut ties with the then best up and coming referee we had?

Did he harass an innocent female athlete out on a training run?

Did he smash the face of a bloke enjoying his 50th birthday party and his mate who went to intervene?

Was he so pissed out of his tree he had to be restrained by mates, didn’t remember any of this and needed the NZRFU to send a ‘media clean-up’ person to his holiday resort to keep a lid on things?

Did the same person who said he was reformed then assault a mate asleep in bed and do the same to another guy under the same circumstances minutes later whilst highly intoxicated?

I mean these sort of serious incidents aren’t seen as enough for All Blacks to be cut-lose now are they?

Walsh’s heinous crime was to turn-up to a refereeing conference pissed.

Why the N.Z Media can’t also juxtapose these positions and the standards set for one group of NZRFU employees versus another shows you the Stalinist power welded by the Union.

The spineless media in N.Z can’t afford to have their prime sporting news taken from underneath them by airing the hypocrisy of Walsh versus Guildford.

Crusaders CRFU Cover-up Drug Cheat

Back in June last year Fijian player Vilimoni Delasau failed a drug test after the match against the All Blacks which they lost 91 to zip.

He was fined $500 by the New Zealand Rugby Union kept in-house at the time.

Why the NZRFU, not Fijian RFU you might ask?

Well as some more knowledgeable readers may have spotted Vilimoni Delasau also plays on the wing for both Canterbury and The Crusaders.

Canterbury had a game scheduled the weekend after Delasau’s positive drug test.

So what did they do?

Rather than ‘fessing-up’ about their player using drugs the CRFU told their fans, press Delasau was unavailable due to an eye injury.

Crusaders want Guildford back!

Role-model N.Z Rugby player Zac Guildford’s days playing in N.Z may not be over!

I'm not making this up.

Yet another example of the adage that short of committing a mass-murder at a primary school, the NZRFU and individual unions don’t care what you get up to off the field.

This goes further to disprove the asinine belief in rugby circles concerning the fabled ‘Crusader Environment’.

It looks likely The Crusaders will now have two players with two assault cases each under their belts in their 2013 squad.

How do Crusader fans feel about a guy that whacks a mate asleep in bed?!

Harasses a female to the point she has to seek sanctuary in a shop from his drunken antics.

Punches an innocent bloke celebrating his 50th.

What about a prop that slaps his partner about?

Do the Crusaders fans, women in particular, want to cheer him along?

Jake Paringatai is a good fit in any rugby team

This is the Joseph Goebbelsesque bio on the Highlanders web site…

Jake Paringatai started his Super Rugby career with the Crusaders back in 2007 after making his domestic debut for Northland in the NPC back in 2003.  A hard-nosed loose forward, Paringatai has been plying his trade in the Japanese Top League over the past few seasons.  He will join a Highlanders forward pack that has plenty of experience and he will be a good fit for the men from the South.

There’s of course a gapping hole in this account of Paringatai’s rugby career.

Perhaps a reason why he went off overseas to ply his trade?

Back in 2009 the then-Crusader was found guilty of Sexual Assault.

That’s him in the photo leaving court.

His lawyer tried to paint a picture of a player no longer able to be a part of the New Zealand rugby scene.

A good fit for the men of the south?

I hope the WAG’s of the Highlanders wear something skimpy to after-matches.

Canterbury Rugby ignores props two assault convictions

On reflection Zac Guildford got a bum deal, either that or he had bad legal advice.

His lawyer should have whispered in the ear of Hamish Riach the following two words and then asked “What time does Todd want Zac at practice again?”

Those two words were “Paea Fa'anunu”

Back in 2011 Crusaders and Canterbury ITM prop Paea Fa'anunu was convicted of assaulting his partner.

But hey ‘slapping the mrs around’ is normal behaviour in rugby circles, that’s why he got just a $1,000 fine and if his lawyer is to be believed Canterbury Rugby supported him the whole hog.

What makes the Fa'anunu case more galling is at the time of his conviction he had just finished a sentence of supervision for a previous assault charge!

Finished anger management and alcohol counseling, which clearly was a waste of every-ones time, had zero worth.

The Probation Dept even said the Crusader had a poor commitment to community work.

Does this surprise anyone?

Clearly though enough commitment to be included in Blackadders 2013 squad.

Remember his name.

I’m confident we haven’t heard the last of this chap.
