Another day another pissed-up All Black, no make that All Blacks

Just a few beers claims Jordie Barrett.

"I had a couple drinks in town with mates and basically can recall everything that happened that night and I was not intoxicated".

Pull the other-one Jordie.

Not even the most staunch All Black fan believes you simply walked into the wrong flat in the wee smalls because of a simple mix-up, unmitigated by your alcohol consumption.

You went out drinking into the early hours and only “had a couple”?

Maccers is the AB breakfast of choice and any aspiring junior player should take note.

The Tui beer marketing company could have a field-day.

You and your mate were too-pissed to tell where you were, seems to fit the bill.

That is what anyone with half-a-brain-cell thinks is what happened.

But wait there’s more, the night after in what are called hi-jinks by All Blacks and Blues winger Rieko Loane.

Loane ends-up with a cut above his eye in an incident with an unnamed team-mate at an after-match piss-up.

Ooops typo sorry, I meant ‘private function’ it could never be a piss-up because these are top professional athletes with strict protocols.

I can't find any media report to indicate if Loane got Maccers on the way to or from hospital?

They play in the most successful international sporting team on the planet we are told by N.Z Rugby's marketing department & N.Z media.

Which are locked at the hip.

Now picture the German World Cup Soccer Squad getting ready for camp and two of their players getting involved in similar incidences.

These two would be out of the Russian tournament before it started.

Disgraced by their actions, they would be dumped.

Contrastingly these two muppets will be playing test rugby next weekend.

Former Maori All Black captain up for assault & drink-driving

In a case that dates to 2015 Te Rua Tipoki has plead guilty today to assaulting his victim whilst he lay unconscious.

It came out in court he was also up for drink-driving in 2016 as well.

What a great leadership role model for Maori youth.

A proud alumnus of The Blues & Highlanders to boot.

Sordid details are here if you require any more evidence N.Z Rugby has an issue with violence and booze.

This site sits as testament public apathy towards a sport where violence & drunkenness are part of it's very fabric.

Former Auckland Blues boss Peter Scutts found guilty after Serious Fraud Office investigation

In a case brought by the Serious Fraud Office, Scutts was in May found guilty of 16 charges of dishonestly using a document and one Secret Commission Act charge of receiving secret reward for procuring contracts in his former role as New Zealand Wine Company chief executive.

Scutts is the former boss of the Auckland Blues rugby franchise and naturally came to Court armed with the mandatory references as to his glowing character from the likes of Graham Henry.

It wasn’t enough for him though, crouching low in the dock to hide as the guilty verdict was delivered.

As reported in the NBR Justice Mary Peters says she is satisfied Scutts lied in his interview with the SFO when he denied handwriting on particular invoices was his. He told the SFO his son Oliver had prepared particular invoices, not him.

Seems like the perfect character to be running a Super Rugby franchise.

Sorry Bill there has always been a two-tier justice system in New Zealand

University of Law Professor Bill Hodge is correct when stating he was "concerned to see a run of cases where athletes were discharged without conviction, on the basis it would affect their employment and their ability to travel or compete in international competitions.”

"It's just a bit concerning that it seems to be setting up a two-tier system of justice, where one class of people get one form of justice, and a different class of people get a different form.”

His statement comes in light of Blues player George Moala's discharge without conviction.

Only Professor Bill should have replaced the word ‘athlete'; with the word ‘rugby player’.

New Zealand triathletes, rowers, soccer players are after-all all athletes.

Where is their ’get out of jail free’ card?

Last week ex Auckland Grammar student Moala was found guilty of one charge of assault with intent to injure.

What would the chances of escaping conviction under the same circumstances if you were a supermarket worker?

You told your probation officer “I not guilty” and denied your role away from court?

Nil!

No judge would care if you wanted to travel overseas at some future stage and the conviction would impinge those plans if you were a mechanic or a truck-driver.

This is such an outrage that I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw listings in the Yellow Pages giving Joe-Blogs facing prosecution the ability – at a price - to all solicit the support of ex All Blacks, since clearly their “He is a good guy” references gain sway with N.Z judges.

The crime of assault with intent to injure has a precedent case on its books which reduces what is a serious offence to below that of a traffic fine.

When you get a traffic fine you get a record.

Yet another, shameful day for N.Z justice.

The principal of the law in New Zealand applying evenly to all its citizens is again in tatters.

“All indications are you can go all the way in rugby”

‘All the way’ being a metaphor for The All Blacks.

So fucking what Gus Andree Wiltens?

The judge who just failed to convict young Blues wing Tevita Li for drink driving.

Li who plead guilty to the charges, only having the minor inconvenience of having to reimburse the costs for the blood tests.

Regardless of whether the conviction would have impinged his prospects as a sheet metal worker, Work and Income clerk, lawyer etc. - he should be held to account.

In a farcical Gilbertese twist Li wants to join the Police force after playing pro rugby!

The New Zealand Judicial system must be a global laughing stock, credibility on par with an African dictatorship.

The principal of the law applying to all its citizens is again in tatters.

One rule for Rugby law-breakers another for you and me.

Blues and NZRFU Cover-up Peter Saili Incident

A new Super 15 is almost upon us and yet, at this 11th hour The Blues have terminated the contract of Peter Saili.

He’s off to play in France.

Why?

Because he’s chasing big money doesn’t cut the mustard.

There was an ‘off-field’ incident according to The Sunday News (18th Jan)

So what was this incident The Blues/NZRFU are sweeping under the carpet?

The real reason Peter Saili is departing our shores?

Nothing to do with a household appliance being wrapped around a young teen, one surmises?

Blues player George Moala ticks all the boxes when it comes to drunken violence

It’s only a couple of weeks into 2015 and New Zealand Courts have seen their first high profile rugby player appear.

Let me take a rough guess.

A complete stab in the dark as to what happened……

Assault, brawl?

Booze?

Wee smalls?

Correct!

Wow, I must have extrasensory powers.

I mean according to the NZRFU these events are rare, in line with other sporting demographics like N.Z Rowers and International Triathletes etc who similarly litter N.Z media with their misdeeds.

Auckland Blues Player being investigated……yet again

The N.Z Herald is  reporting Peter Saili is alleged to have beaten a 13-year-old boy whom he caught burgling his home, to the point he needed to be hospitalised for four days. A vacuum cleaner pipe was allegedly employed by the number eight.

His bro(ther) Frances got caught driving whilst disqualified in 2012 and only last month fellow Blues player Tevita Li admitted drink driving.

Peter Saili joins a growing list of Blues players involved with assaults, police investigations there into.

Rene Ranger (2010)
Kurtis Haiu (2011)
George Moala (2013)

They are of course just young men doing what young men do.

Which apparently, in rugby circles at least, involves getting into a spot of trouble with the law.

Naturally home-town hero Sir John will sort them out.

He’s making he great job so far of maintaining discipline off the field…..NOT!

Rugby Hero ‘Lima’ (Allegedly) Bash’s the Mrs

Subsequent to a weekend incident up in Samoa Highlanders/Blues and Samoan International Brian Lima has been charged after a public assault involving a weapon against his ex-wife.

This is Lemalu Sina Retzlaff,  Lima’s ex missus after ‘the bash’……

This is not the first time ‘wife slapping’ by Lima came to the attention of Samoan media.

Accusations were aired in 2011. In one incident fellow players went to protect his wife from a drunk and abusive Lima.

Through-out his career Lima was renowned and even celebrated amongst rugby circles as a violent player, out to inflict injury legally/illegally on his opposition.

I am not going to give the loser more precious ‘media air’ so I’ll allow you to go to You Tube and do your own searches for Brian Lima: Sinne Tu’ipulotu, Johnny Wilkinson, Jaque Fourie, Budge Pountney.

Well back in 2008 his (alleged) spousal abuse, issues with alcohol were aired on this Samoan board.

Last year Lima accused his wife of forgery and falsifying documents but later withdrew his complaint.

None of these ‘red flags’ dulled his lustre in the eyes of the IRB who inducted him into Rugby’s Hall of Fame in 2011.

None of these behavioural issues saw him prevented him becoming the coach of the eighth best rugby nation on planet Earth.

Even today The Herald headlines Lima as a ‘Rugby Hero’.
