Another day another pissed-up All Black, no make that All Blacks

Just a few beers claims Jordie Barrett.

"I had a couple drinks in town with mates and basically can recall everything that happened that night and I was not intoxicated".

Pull the other-one Jordie.

Not even the most staunch All Black fan believes you simply walked into the wrong flat in the wee smalls because of a simple mix-up, unmitigated by your alcohol consumption.

You went out drinking into the early hours and only “had a couple”?

Maccers is the AB breakfast of choice and any aspiring junior player should take note.

The Tui beer marketing company could have a field-day.

You and your mate were too-pissed to tell where you were, seems to fit the bill.

That is what anyone with half-a-brain-cell thinks is what happened.

But wait there’s more, the night after in what are called hi-jinks by All Blacks and Blues winger Rieko Loane.

Loane ends-up with a cut above his eye in an incident with an unnamed team-mate at an after-match piss-up.

Ooops typo sorry, I meant ‘private function’ it could never be a piss-up because these are top professional athletes with strict protocols.

I can't find any media report to indicate if Loane got Maccers on the way to or from hospital?

They play in the most successful international sporting team on the planet we are told by N.Z Rugby's marketing department & N.Z media.

Which are locked at the hip.

Now picture the German World Cup Soccer Squad getting ready for camp and two of their players getting involved in similar incidences.

These two would be out of the Russian tournament before it started.

Disgraced by their actions, they would be dumped.

Contrastingly these two muppets will be playing test rugby next weekend.

If South Canterbury Police want to lower domestic-violence then get Sky to ‘black-out’ All Black games

I’m left aghast at the belief by South Canterbury Rugby & Police they can some-how ‘combine’ to drop domestic violence in their region.

Is this a smoke-screen tactic to divert the public’s attention from a major source of family violence?

Televised rugby.

I’m not against the principals of the initiative, after-all this country leads the world in domestic violence.

There’s one major issue both the Police and Rugby fraternity in South Canterbury seem to ignore.

High profile rugby games lead to an increase in domestic violence.

This inconvenient fact comes from none-other source than the Police themselves!

It’s rugby-heads getting liquored-up and giving the ‘mrs’ a clip that add to the country’s appalling record.

Indeed, the local rugby clubs in South Canterbury should feel morally obligated to continuously raise money for Women’s Refuge given ‘big game’ nights lead to an increase in women seeking their services.

Women’s Refuge have highlighted this fact repeatedly.

Incidents spike when the local team loses.

This will be the same in South Canterbury and 'my money' is on the Polices own regional crime stats agreeing with this summation.

Rugby is not the cure here.

It’s a major problem.

White-Ribbon should be distancing itself from the sport altogether.

South Canterbury Rugby Players are part of the problem not the solution

“The campaign does not suggest domestic and family violence are in any way directed or attributed to rugby players or rugby clubs, but instead recognised the influence of rugby in the community”

South Canterbury Rugby Football Union chief executive Craig Calder is taking the piss....right?!

Or at least so enamored, deluded with his beloved sport not to see the facts?

Think no-one in Timaru knows there’s an internet search engine called Google?

The donation of 10 phones will go anyway to mitigate the sad record rugby has in the community.

His community, the one that needs to address violence and it's his organisation that's some-how going to lead that change.

Like f*ck!

Perhaps he's forgotten that 13 months into his own tenure a former South Canterbury representative rugby player called John Junior Faavae  who was sentenced in the Timaru Court to two years and six months in jail.

His crime?

Indecent assault and attempted sexual violation by rape.

I guess that's not community violence in 'rugby speak'.

In 2013 four South Canterbury players faced allegations of rape, which were later dropped due to in-sufficient evidence.

But wait there’s more!

April of 2000 South Canterbury Player Kemipolo Tongotongo was found guilty of sexual violation by rape.

His lawyer proudly told the court at the time "He is a rugby player of some considerable talent"

"The South Canterbury Rugby Union went to a lot of trouble to bring him from Auckland to play for them."

Clean-up your own act Mr Calder.

Put your arrogance to one side and face the facts you can't influence what goes on in the wider community.

You can influence the paltry 25 odd semi-professional players you have under contract.

Waikato Rugby Stalwart Learns How N.Z Rugby Hegemony Operates

Salt of the earth ‘club men’ like Mike Cochrane (Hautapu Sports Club, Hamilton) learns the hard way that Super Rugby players are higher up the totem than him.

Even when you are the victim taking-on the likes of Craig Stevenson, the club was never going to back the no-one.

Cochrane should pick another sport.

There are plenty that would appreciate his efforts, not 'throw him under the bus'.

Where the hell do I start?

West Auckland Rugby Final Ends in Chaos after players set on a mother  it's alleged, but no doubt there was an ugly incident involving players and spectators

Christchurch High school rugby brawl investigation focuses on referee abuse (involving St Bedes College for something completely different)

Still, there’s no problem with violence in the sport according to Steve Tew.

The papers are full of similar mayhem at local hockey matches.

We see the same thing littering the media at Netball courts up & down the country.

Don't we?

The Future of South Canterbury Rugby is in good hands

A mass brawl erupted last Friday between the respective Roncalli Combined and Aoraki Combined Under 18 teams.

It was supposed to be a friendly.

One that involved both sets of substitutes joining in the melee.

And what pray-tell was the punishment meted-out to the players involved?

Being virtually both entire squads?

In a game the referee called off due to the violence?

To quote the words of South Canterbury Rugby Union chief executive Craig Calder “No further disciplinary action was needed”

Welcome to the world of rugby in N.Z lads.

You are untouchable.

Now it’s two New Zealand Rugby Players in France accused of gang rape!

Rory Grice (Chiefs, Waikato) Dylan Hayes (Marlborough) are face rape allegations along with four other Grenoble team mates, after a game in Bordeaux.

READ

What’s that five professional rugby players from N.Z in front of French judiciary in a month?

It’s a disgrace!

And guess what?

The sad thing is most Kiwi's don't give a rats.

If it was a bunch of Mongrel Mobsters they'd be baying for blood.

Screaming on talk-back and ranting on Facebook for The Police or their MP to do something.

But seeing the accused in this case are rugby players the public will likely hit Social Media to slate the woman.

Up-Date 13/04: Rory Grice has been charged for rape along with two Grenoble teammates, a Frenchman and an Irishman. Since Dylan Hayes is not mentioned amongst those charged the presumption is he's off-the-hook, innocent. Grice however could be looking at 20 years in a French clinker.

Rugby heads in denial about drink drinking plague

The sad facts are there for all to see.

Were a brave media outlet in the mainstream media to call-out rugby’s sad and often lethal role when it comes to drink driving, they risk potentially their largest draw-card pulling their coverage in reprisal.

That's why you see nothing in our largest papers.

They prefer instead to be cheer-girls for the sport.

Report on celeb weddings and a players favourite music rather than death and mayhem on our roads after clubroom piss-ups.

All of which are down to rugby culture of entitlement, that exists from top to bottom.

Here’s but a brief recent run-down on N.Z’s rugby players love of boozing and getting behind the wheel.

Just how many grieving parents, friends will it take for the sport to wake-up?

2014: Auckland's ITM Cup rugby coach Wayne Pivac was banned from driving after he was caught drink-driving on Waitangi Day

2014:  Twenty three year old Keao players Vernon Lawrence-Samuels and Ryan Wikaira died in a head-on accident after consuming alcohol and smoking a joint following rugby training.

2014: Jack Henry Ballantyne and Tui Huruata Candish-Thompson died on May 11, 2012, after crashing into a power pole at high speed near Hinds, south of Ashburton. The coroner stated the deaths could have been avoided if a culture of mixing drinking with sport was not so prevalent. The two teenagers had visited the Hinds Tavern after rugby training, which was/is(?) the norm.

2015:   Auckland Blues rugby player Tevita Li was discharged without conviction for driving with an excess blood alcohol level. The judge said ‘a conviction against your name would have consequences in the sense that people who are involved in the recruitment of rugby players look with disdain on people with convictions, regardless of what they're for’.

2016: Troy Favell pleads guilty to a count of driving with excess breath alcohol. The 2nd time he’s been done.

2016: Tragedy strikes the small South Island town of Kurow when Jarrad Blackler (23) dies from his injuries, the victim of a drunk driver. All passengers of the vehicle had been pissing-up at the local rugby club.

2016: Rene Ranger convicted of drink driving.

2017: Two words ‘Dan’ and ‘Carter’.

2017: Two men lucky to be alive after a serious car crash involving two vehicles, had been celebrating after a long-running social rugby clash in South Canterbury. Police describe ‘beer bottles scattered all over the paddock’.

Chiefs Players trash talk Traffic Wardens

Imagine if you went up to the daughter, sister or wife of a Chiefs player going about their job and called them cunts, useless and lazy?

What would you expect to happen if they heard you?

Well more than what happened to a group of Chiefs players that allegedly used the same profanities to two female Hamilton traffic wardens, after getting ticketed.

N.Z Rugby’s Respect & Responsibility Initiative is a farce.

Those Chiefs players that gobbed-off at the traffic wardens and this ever-burgeoning blog being a living testament to this.

N.Z Rugby has normalised abnormal behaviour

What a joke.

A token panel to review toxic rugby culture.

A dead cert is the major conclusion to come from this farce will be a lack of women in positions of power.

Like that will stop street thuggery at one o’clock on a Sunday morning.

Why is this review even necessary when the N.Z public has been told consistently the off-field actions of N.Z Rugby players are merely representative of society as a whole?

That’s to say other males this age get-up-to exactly the same criminal activities as professional rugby players.

The thinly veiled insinuation from rugby apologists, tabloid journalists at the likes of the N.Z Herald, is our cricket and soccer professionals etc. conduct themselves in exactly the same fashion as rugby players.

We have been fed the line that what rugby players get up-to in terms of drunken violence, sexual abuse etc. is a microcosm of life in New Zealand.

Only it isn’t.

That’s why no other sport deems it necessary to have a similar review.

N.Z Rugby has normalised abnormal behaviour to the point any conclusions made by this panel will be symbolic at best.

Mark my words this blog will be as busy as normal: review or no review.

Rugby’s image in N.Z is now in tatters but that won’t change a thing

Being the biggest ape in the jungle rugby followers in New Zealand have a supercilious, contemptuous view of rival football codes.

Soccer is for poofters.

League is for inhabitants of State Houses.

So where are the high-profile soccer players facing charges of intent to rape guys?

Refer latest report about a Mid Canterbury rugby player.

There are heaps of soccer players plying their trade overseas.

Surely some of them get up-to mischief?

Evidently not.

Certainly not to the level of rugby players in N.Z.

Rugby’s image is now in tatters, going down the tubes sordid incident by sordid incident.

The public is finally waking-up to the high rates of criminality associated with rugby in New Zealand.

This site is littered with them.

Of course there will always be an element of Kiwis who will defend the indefensible.

Most of them are buffoons and gravitate to fellow buffoons for solace.

The more-staunch ones join rugby-club committees.

They honestly don’t care as long as the precious All Blacks keep winning and it’s not their daughter or son assaulted by a profile rugby player.

The sports image is paramount.

The victims are just collateral, worthy only of token apologies.

Rugby buffoons chortle away and run-down sports like League whilst ignoring the bleeding obvious.

Rugby culture is to blame for the issues the sport faces.

Other sports don’t have these problems to the same degree.

And there’s no way that’s going to change under the current regime, regardless of what the public think.

Aaron Smith Spreads the All Black Kulture all up the toilet wall

For the record what Aaron Smith gets up-to in his own time is his own business.

He only has to answer to himself and his family for his conduct.

But this loo-shagging incident wasn’t on his watch.

He was representing his sport at the time.

In the public domain.

Yet again (starts to yawn, think about grabbing a coffee) All Black management were questioned about this incident before it became more than internet gossip and they did what they normally do: wait and hope it goes away.

This all took place on September the 18th after-all.

Half if not all the team knew what went on within minutes.

Kiwi’s hear ad nauseum about The All Black culture as if it was something to aspire to.

This team is world-beaters, not because rugby is secondary sport in many countries, but because of this special culture.

Well Aaron Smith is currently doing a brilliant job of spreading this culture globally.

Still, it can't be said that Aaron isn't one not to spread his love.

Just ask the cleaners at Christchurch Airport.

Homophobic Slurs – A Normal Day in N.Z Rugby

Rugby is possibly the world’s most homophobic sport.

Most certainly the most homophobic sport in N.Z.

Little wonder the number of known gay All Blacks sits at zero.

Little wonder to read reports of homophobic slurs coming out of the mouths of leading players.

Probably not even newsworthy given it’s the norm in Michael Allardice’s sporting circles.

It's great the mainstream press is giving him stick but in reality it won't change rugby 'kulture' in New Zealand.

No kidding a top N.Z rugby player assaults a bird in a bar?

ONE: Ex pro N.Z Rugby Player in a bar late at night
PLUS ONE: Getting absolutely blotto
EQUALS: The inability to conduct oneself civilly, nor with respect for others – the later coming as a God-given right of being a top rugby player in N.Z.

It appears not even your team mates ‘mrs’ is off limits.
The female clients of Peter Mirrieless now need to decide whether to take their business elsewhere.
Deliver him the result he deserves.
I was also going to suggest his [unnamed] rugby club boot him out.
But that would be unthinkable.
This is New Zealand where's there's no real issue.
Which is what most drunks say.
The drunk man of N.Z sport being the NZRFU.

Coroner blames Rugby Booze Culture for two deaths.

[Stuff NZ] The deaths of two young rugby players in a high speed crash could have been avoided if a culture of mixing drinking with sport was not so prevalent. Jack Henry Ballantyne and Tui Huruata Candish-Thompson died on May 11, 2012, after crashing into a power pole at high speed near Hinds, south of Ashburton. Ballantyne had been drinking alcohol and was driving about 185kmh when he lost control of the vehicle on the rural road.

Candish-Thompson was in the front passenger seat of the car when the crash happened. In findings released today, Coroner Richard McElrea said the deaths were a "tragedy that could have been avoided". "It was an example of the mixture of sport and alcohol." The two teenagers had visited the Hinds Tavern after rugby training on May 10 – something the team regularly did after practice.

The coroner has clearly made the wrong conclusion.

At least according to Steve Tew who consistently plugs the line there is no drinking culture in N.Z Rugby circles.

Try telling the poor parents.
